In the hamlet of Casale stands the ancient Ducal Palace, once the residence of the wealthy and powerful feudal lords of Morrone. The history of this palace is closely linked to that of the municipality of Castel Morrone. Built in the first half of the 14th century by the De Capua family, it was later expanded and modified in the second half of the 17th century by the De Mauro family.
The southern part of the building, along the road and owned by the municipality, was rebuilt from the ground up starting in 1896, according to the design of the architect Salvatore Bianco from Naples. The northern part, internally and privately owned, retains its original forms, except for the second floor, where post-earthquake interventions have altered the ancient structures.
The entire complex is subject to constraints by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities due to its significant historical and monumental importance.
