In the territory of Castel Morrone, there are traces of a settlement dating back to the Samnite period known as "Plistica", located in a strategic position on the Castellone and Gagliola mountains. Here, the remains of a city wall built between the 6th and 4th centuries BC and improved between the Second and Third Samnite Wars are present. Accessible via a pathway, the megalithic walls extend for about 2 km, and at the highest point called Castellone, a cistern carved into the rock is visible. Due to the considerable size of the stones, a local legend attributes the construction of the walls to mysterious forces, calling them the "Wall of the Fairies"
