The territory of Castel Morrone is characterized by a rich presence of natural springs, among which stand out the Fonte del Fusaro, Fonte del Formale, and Fonte del Fico. These springs feed various watercourses that, through a series of waterfalls and jumps, mainly flow into the Ciummiento valley.
The areas where these springs are located are of great interest from a landscape, historical, and naturalistic point of view.
The Fonte del Fusaro, named after the Fusaro stream where hemp was once processed, is a true natural wonder. Here, one can admire a variety of plants, including horsetails, and, with a bit of luck, spot rare specimens of local fauna, such as the Italian newt, an amphibian with a characteristic black appearance and orange-spotted belly, which represents the only species of urodeles present in southern Italy, and the spectacled salamander.
Along the path leading to the Fonte del Fusaro, there are caves, formerly used as shelters by farmers during the bombings of the Second World War.
